Jajce

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, with lakes and mountains sits the ancient town of Jajce,  former capital of the Medieval kingdom of Bosnia. Today it is famous for its grand fortress and spectacular  Pliva waterfall – among the top 10 in the world – and the only one that is in the middle of a town.

No other town in the country contains so much cultural treasures and architectural styles in one place. We can see a Roman temple from the 3rd Century, a masterpiece of medieval construction– St. Luke’s Church and there are the catacombs where nobles and high priests were buried. Jajce also has traditional old houses and amazing functioning watermills dating back to the Middle Ages.
